School Counselor

Mrs. Jen Windnagel has a Bachelors in Elementary and Special Education and a Masters in School Counseling with post graduate work in clinical counseling. She has 23 years of experience in elementary education, most predominantly as an elementary school counselor in Columbus. Personally, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and three children.

Jen is most passionate about partnering with students, teachers and parents to break down the non-academic barriers to student achievement. Her office is a warm and friendly place, where everyone is always welcome. As a School Counselor, her primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.

Mrs. Windnagel works with students in the classroom, in topical small groups, and through brief solution focused individual counseling. She also meets with parents, collaborates with teachers and staff, and consults with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of all Pataskala students.

Group counseling is provided for small groups of students experiencing similar concerns. These may include making and keeping friends, managing big feelings, coping with separation/divorce and or loss, getting organized/study skills and/or improving self-esteem. The groups generally range from 4 to 6 students and last for 6 to 8 sessions. The students for these groups can be recommended by parents/guardians or by staff members.

Short term one-on-one counseling support is available to all students. Students may self-refer or be referred by teachers/staff and/or parents. Confidentiality is respected.

Mrs. Windnagel is available to meet with teachers, administrators and/or parents to discuss the needs of individual students.
She is here for all students and wants to ensure that your child has a productive and positive school year. If she can support your child in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact her.
